The reflexive trap:

What This Means For You
If You're a Knowledge Worker
Immediate actions (this quarter):
- Audit your role for execution vs. judgment content. Write down everything you did last week. Categorize each task: could AI do this if given the right inputs? Be brutally honest. This is your vulnerability map.
- Identify your context moat. What do you know — about clients, systems, organizational dynamics, domain nuance — that AI cannot access through a prompt? This is your asset. Invest in deepening it, not protecting it.

- Avoid: Any company whose differentiation depends on human execution volume in automatable knowledge-work categories without a clear pivot to AI-architect positioning.
Portfolio positioning:
- The macro bet is on continued divergence between corporate profits and median household income. This is deflationary for consumer spending and inflationary for luxury goods (top-decile income is growing). Position accordingly.

Why traditional talent management won't work:
Optimizing for headcount reduction to capture AI margin gains is the obvious move. It's also the most dangerous one if you do it indiscriminately. - Invest in context capture. Your institutional knowledge is a competitive moat. Document it aggressively before the people who hold it leave or are cut. Every hour spent on organizational knowledge capture is worth 10x in avoided disruption costs.
Window of opportunity: Companies that restructure roles correctly in the next 12–18 months will have a significant execution quality advantage by 2028 over companies that simply cut headcount and replaced with AI pipelines.
The Question Everyone Should Be Asking
The real question isn't "will AI take my job?"
It's "am I building irreplaceable value, or am I in the execution layer that AI is consuming from the bottom up?"
